1. Regular inspection of spare tire
In daily maintenance or long-distance travel, few car owners test the spare tire, and some repair shops often neglect this point. Spare tire inspection is mainly to check the tire pressure and whether there are wear and cracks, before the tread wear to the wear mark line, to replace the tire as soon as possible.
Reminder: If there are small cracks in the sidewall, you cannot use it for long-distance or high-speed driving, because the sidewall of the tire is thin, and high-speed driving is prone to puncture.
2, oil and spare tire are not put together
The main component of the tire is rubber, and the rubber is afraid of the erosion of various oils. Car owners often store lubricating oil and other oils in the trunk. Once the oil gets on the tires, it will cause the tires to bulge and erode, which will greatly reduce the service life of the tires.
Reminder: If the tire is stained with oil, wash the oil with a neutral detergent in time.
3, spare tire life of about 4 years
Many car owners believe that as long as the spare tire is kept in the trunk and not used, it can "live a long life", which is wrong. It often happens that the owner wants to replace the spare tire after a flat tire, but finds that the spare tire has been seriously aging after being placed for many years and is already a waste tire. In fact, because the tire is a rubber product, storage time is too long will appear aging phenomenon, the general tire aging period is about 4 years, therefore, after 4 years should be replaced spare tire.
4, spare tire should not be used for a long time
Because the spare tire is used frequently and has less friction with the ground, and the size of some spare tires will be smaller than the size of the positive tire, its aspect ratio, tire width or tire diameter are different from those of normal tires, so after replacing the spare tire, the friction coefficient of the four tires is different, the ground adhesion is different, and the air pressure is different, long-term use will have a certain impact on the braking system, steering system and suspension system of the vehicle, bring hidden dangers to driving safety, and cause uneven friction among other tires in the same direction.
Reminder: Some spare tires use brighter colors, the purpose is to remind the owner to replace the spare tire in time. In addition, when using a spare tire, especially a miniaturized spare tire, pay attention to controlling the speed of the vehicle. Under normal circumstances, it is better not to exceed 80 km/h.
5. Put the rear wheel on the repaired tire
Some car owners will use the repaired tires as spare tires. If these tires are to be used again, they must be placed on the non-driving wheels. Generally, the mid-level and lower vehicles we drive are front-wheel-drive vehicles, and because the front wheel punctures The direction of the car is more difficult to control, so the repaired tires should be placed on the rear wheels.
